Improve Your Clinical Productivity
Using CPSC Data to Improve Clinical Productivity
Measuring and managing clinical productivity is one of the most popular uses of our in-depth efficiency reports. These reports allow CPSC members to track productivity in both work and/or total RVUs, and by unit frequency at the department, specialty or individual provider level.
Your group can use the data in these wide-ranging reports to:
- Boost productivity drivers and address productivity drains
- Determine how much capacity exists within a specialty
- Trend productivity to aid in workforce planning efforts
- Develop physician compensation plans to improve revenue
Which Reports Should You Start With?
The information found in our productivity reports can help you comprehensively boost efficiency to maximize your profits as it has already done for many other CPSC members. The most relevant data for productivity can be found in the following Clinical Activity Suite reports:
- Productivity Summary
- Clinical Fingerprint
- Procedure Summary
- Payer Mix
Mid-Level Provider Impact Analysis
CPSC data can give you a deeper understanding of the impact mid-level providers have on your faculty’s productivity. By using billing and service provider information from your organization’s data file, our intuitive reporting algorithms identify the actual and adjusted work RVUs generated by an attending physician — plus the physician’s contribution of work RVUs from the mid-level providers who support him or her. This provides an invaluable resource for boosting clinical productivity and, in turn, your bottom line.
Percentile Analysis
This specialized analysis helps you gain deeper insight into your team by adding the percentile rank for each physician to the existing Productivity Summary Report layout. Now you can analyze and compare an individual physician’s performance on an unprecedented national level.
Using the FTE RVUs column of the report (calculated by dividing the physician’s work RVUs generated by the Reported CFTE), your physician’s productivity level is compared with the entire specialty-specific benchmark pool of physicians in the CPSC database to determine the percentile rank of your physician.
Below are two examples of custom analyses CPSC members have requested to help them understand clinical productivity on a deeper level. Here’s how you can take advantage of these same custom analysis services based on your organization’s unique needs.
Customized Peer Group Benchmarking
Get the most benefit by directly comparing your organization to subsets of the entire CPSC database. This unique comparison metric allows your group to directly evaluate and contrast your goals, plans and outcomes against intrinsically similar organizations.
Clinical Fingerprint: Compare Your Group to Customized Peer Groups
The Clinical Fingerprint Report allows members to compare their case mix of physicians with the average physician in the CPSC. This customized analysis delivers a deeper understanding of underlying productivity and places selected institutions’ case mixes on a percent-to-total basis in a side-by-side comparison. Choose reports like this to help your medical practice administration create a more informed plan for improving clinical productivity.
